My mom just got her bachelors degree - at age fifty -please-don't-do-the-math, and in less than half the time the courses are slated for because she works in social work and the teachers lat her test out (when your first assignment is a fictional grant application and you decide to send it in anyway and it's approved, you get an A+). Refering, of course, to getting internet at home again. Another issue with mom - late fees she never paid - even though she told us every time we asked if it was ok to spend money that "everything is taken care of!"

My mom has a tendency to mention, once, a few weeks before a bill is due, that she might need some help...

I have, on a few occcasions, decided that surviving through certain hardships (not ones with any potential to be deadly, to be clear) would only be worth it if I could do something that mattered - even if it's something as plain as rescuing dogs and cats. I love animals enough to say getting out of bed is worth it...
